A MESSAGE FOR THE FEAST OF THE NATIVITY
Christ is Born! Let us glorify Him!
Today in the town of Bethelehem Jesus Christ is born for us all. This great Mystery of the Incarnation of God as Man has great significance for all humanity. God is incarnate as a Man, so that man might become God (theosis). This is what the Holy Orthodox Faith teaches us. We must ask ourselves: how may we become deified? The Holy Fathers of the Church explain that it is by our faith in God and our good deeds to one another.
If we look upon today’s world, and especially at the comfort in which we all live, it is very easy for us to simply unite ourselves to this material world and lose our vocation to become deified. But today, more than ever, we can also see how poor and sinful is today’s world. How many people are homeless today, just as the Holy Virgin Mary and St. Joseph the Betrothed were on that night when our Saviour, the Son of God, was born!
How many unfortunate people there are today who have nowhere to eat and find shelter from the winter cold. We may see them in the heart of Montreal. They are fortunate only to the extent that there are merciful organizations who give them food and a place to sleep at night. It is through our Christ-like mercy to our neighbours that we become like God.
And what about faith? We are deified by receiving the Divine Sacred Mysteries, especially the most precious Holy Body and Blood of the Lord. The Holy Orthodox Church, each Sunday and Feast day, offers up the bloodless Sacrifice of our Lord, God and Saviour, Jesus Christ, Who today takes on human nature for us, so that we might receive Him in the Holy Mystery of Communion to purify our souls and bodies and to have eternal fellowship with Him.
Let us rejoice today, as did the Shepherds who saw Angels, who proclaimed the Good News to them about the Birth of Emmanuel (which means “God is with us”), Christ, God’s Anointed. Let us not neglect today’s great Feast, but observe it in serenity, meditating upon the One, Who is born for our salvation from the Ever-Virgin Mary and the Holy Spirit, as Man, so that we, receiving Him in our hearts, and, most personally, in the Holy Mystery of the Eucharist, might be deified and today become one with Him in our body and our soul.

CЛОВО НА РОЖДЕСТВО ХРИСТОВЕ
Христос Рождається! Славімо Його!
Сьогодні у місті Вифлеємі народжується для всіх нас Ісус Христос. Ця велика Тайна Втілення Бога в чоловічій постаті має велике значіння для всього людства. Бог втілюється, як Людина, щоб людина стала Богом. Так навчає нас Св. Православна Віра. Маємо запитати себе: як можемо ми обожитися? Святі Отці Церкви пояснюють, що це можливе лише почерез нашу віру в Бога та нашими добрими ділами одне одному.
Якщо подивится на нинішній світ, а особливо на той добробут, в якому ми живемо, легко нам приєднатися до цього матеріяльного світу і втратити завдання обожитися. Та сьогодні, як ніколи, бачимо який нинішній світ убогий і грішний. Скільки сьогодні людей без приюту, так як Св. Діва Марія і Св. Йосип Обручник були в ту ніч, коли народився наш Спаситель, Син Божий!
Скільки сьогодні бачимо нещасних людей, що не мають де з’їсти і від зимового холоду захиститися. Таких можемо побачити і в центрі міста Монреалю. Вони тільки тим щасливі, що існують милосердні організації, що дають їм, що з’їсти і де вночі переспатися. Через наші діла Христового Милосердя до нашого ближнього ми стаємо подібними до Бога.
А через віру? Обожуємося тоді, коли приймаємо Святі Тайни Божі, а головно Св. Причастя, саме дорогоцінне Св. Тіло і Св. Кров Господню. Св. Православна Церква кожної Неділі і в Свята приносить безкровну Жертву Господа, Бога і Спаса нашого Ісуса Христа, Який сьогодні ради нас усіх втілюється у чоловічій природі, щоб ми прийняли Його в Св. Тайні Причастя задля очищення наш душ і тіл і на вічне спілкування з Ним.
Радіймо нині, як ті пастухи, що побачили Анголів, які благовістили їм про Добру Новину, що народився Емануїл (що означає «З нами Бог»), Христос, Помазаник Божий. Не забуваймо нинішній великий Празник, відмічаючи його в тихості, в роздумах про Цього, що народився задля нашого спасіння від Вседіви Марії і Св. Духа у подобі Людини, щоб ми, приймаючи Його в серцях наших, а якнайособистіше в Св. Тайні Євхаристії, могли обожитися і стати сьогодні у нашому тілі й душі – одне з Ним.
